Lotto:
 
We appeal to ticket sellers to return all lotto membership tickets this week.
This is imperative as the first draw of the year is now due to take place. 
Thank you to all members who have renewed membership to date. This is the
club’s principal fundraiser and we appreciate the continued loyalty of our
members.
 
Committee:
 
At last Monday’s January club meeting some outstanding vacant committee positions
were filled. Best wishes to John Marren who was elected club vice chairman and
John McGowan who takes over as club Insurance offficer.
 
Sympathy:
 
The club wishes to extend sympathy to the McGuinn family, Coolaney on the
recent death of Mickey McGuinn. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
 
Pitch Maintenance:
 
Last week some essential repair work was carried out on the playing surface
of the main playing pitch at Nace O’Dowd Park. The club wishes to notify all
that the main pitch is strictly out of bounds until further notice. This is critical
to the success of the resodding work and is in the interest of all who use the
facility. Thank you for your cooperation.
 
Intermediate:
 
Training continues on Wednesday and Saturday this week. The first game of
the season is scheduled to take place on Sunday February 15th. The championship
draw takes place this week also and check our club website for details as soon as
they are published.
 
Scholarship:
 
Any secondary school student with an interest in applying for the Gaeltacht
scholarship scheme can obtain an application form from their respective
schools or alternatively contact any club officer.
 
Minor:
 
The first minor game of the season is fixed for this coming Sunday Feb 8th.
against Enniscrone. Check club website for details this week.
 
GAA 125:
 
Last Saturday evening as part of the associations 125 year anniversary celebrations,
80,000 supporters witnessed a fantastic ocassion as All Ireland champions Tyrone
played Dublin in the opening round of the League campiagn at Croke Park. After a superb game of
football, the crowd, with almost 1200 clubs represented, were treated to a truely
magnificant display of fireworks accompanied by a highly impressive sychronised show of music and lighting.
This was a superb advert for the GAA as it has evolved to the present day.
The club’s minor team, accompanied by managers Eamon Gorman and Brendan Kivlehan,
travelled to witness the ocassion. Great credit is due to the organisers of this trip as it was
certainly an event worth experiencing.
