Christmas Competition

We are running a competition this Christmas for club supporters with some attractive prizes up for grabs. We have two copies of the new book entitled ‘Best of the West’, which profiles some of the top GAA players from Connaught over the last few decades. We also have two copies of the Football double DVD entitled ‘SAM 2008 Review of the Year DVD’. To enter, simply answer the following question:

Name the footballer from Coolaney/Mullinabreena that played at full back on the 1968 Sligo Minor team. The team won the Connaught championship and reached the All Ireland final that year.

Log on to www.coolaneymullinabreena.com and leave your name and address with the correct answer on the special competition section. Alternatively, text your answer and details to Ollie Lee on 087 7981827.

Newsletter Subscription:

The most recent addition to the club’s website is the facility to subscribe to receive our planned monthly newsletter. Simply log on and leave your name and e-mail address and we will then forward on the monthly newsletter with the Lotto results as well as the latest goings on within the club. Once again we hope to reach out in particular to club supporters who are away from home and might appreciate this link. Make sure to alert anybody you may know in this regard.

Social Deferred:

For varying reasons the club have decided to defer the planned social and underage presentation night until a date possibly in late January. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

1968 Sligo Minor Team:

This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of Sligo GAA’s greatest on-field achievements when the minor team were crowned Connaught champions and reached the All Ireland final only to lose out to Cork by one point. Our own Club had a significant involvement in this feat with three players on the panel. Johm Brennan and Robert Lipsett played in the defence and Francis Kilcoyne was a panel member. Current Club President Walter Kivlehan was a selector for the team. We wish everyone involved a great night on December 28th when Sligo honours this special anniversary.

Commemorative DVD:

A Commemorative DVD is currently available featuring the Jubilee Team Presentation as well as the full range of photographs taken during the day of the celebration and on the night in the Clarion Hotel. Also included in this production is the complete display of photos that formed the slide show detailing the history of the club. The earliest club photos from the 1950’s through to the most up to date were collated as a result of an appeal made over the last few months. There was a fantastic response to the appeal and after a number of requests were received, this extensive array of photos is now available as a complete collection on this DVD. For more details or to book your copy contact Ollie Lee on 087 7981827.

Club AGM:

The Coolaney/Mullinabreena Club AGM has been fixed for Saturday, January 10th in St.Nathy’s Hall at 8pm. We encourage all players and club members to attend and anyone who wishes to become involved at an administration or coaching level can contact any current club officer before this date.
