Coolderry were crowned 2010 Aidan Bracken Building Design senior hurling champions after a nine point victory over reigning champions Tullamore in O’Connor Pk, Tullamore on Sunday October 17th.
Coolderry laid the foundation for this success in the opening half after which they led by 2-9 to 0-5. Coolderry got the perfect start when Damien Murray goaled inside the first minute. A further goal from Cathal Parlon and a string of points from man of the match Brian Carroll gave them a 10 point interval advantage.
However, on the resumption Tullamore threw everything at the challengers and hit 1-4 in a six minute spell to narrow the gap to three 2-9 to 1-9. The goal a great individual effort from Shane Dooley. However, Coolderry steadied the ship and with Carroll in superb form again took control. Victory was sealed 10 minutes from time when Damien Murray scored the second of his goals to secure Coolderry’s first titles since 2004 and their 28th in all.
