Corinthians topple Malone

Corinthians toppled Malone and send them home pointless.The Cloonacauneen outfit should have been home and hosed at half time such was there dominance but all they had to show for there efforts was six points which were converted by outhalf Shane Mullally after Malone were penalized twice for killing the ball.Corinthians were completly on top in the first have and should have got in for a few tries but poor handling of the final pass kept the visitors in the match.

Corinthians continued to dominate in the second half even without centre Eoin Griffin who got man the match on Tuesday night against Samoa.Eventually the home side got the try they craved for after Malone were penalized yet again and captain Pat Cunningham calls for outhalf Mullally to kick down the touch line from the ensuing lineout Corinthians drove forward with the front row to the fore and loose head Barry Fa’amausile gets the touch down.

The visitors eventually got there act together and got the ball out wide with winger Mark Barker going for the Corinthian line but the home centre Wayne Williams got across to tackle Barker into touch.Malone continue to up there game but with Corinthians back row really in great form especially Shane Conneely stopping every attack.Referee David O Flynn eventually loses his patients with the visitors and yellow cards flanker Niall Alcorn this gives the Cloonacauneen outfit more impetuous and with twenty minutes remaining substitute scrumhalf Mark Dolan gets quick ball out from the base of the scrum for winger Finn Gormley to touch down out wide.

Corinthians were leading by sixteen points to nil at this stage but were unable to get another score due to the slippery ball and poor handling.Still it was a great win over the northerners which puts the home side in striking distance of the two top teams.Grounds man Dave Madden had the main pitch in great condition after the terrible weather of last week.
