County Champion!!

Congratulations to Caitríona Howard who brought the first County Title for the 2009 season to the club on Sunday night last at the Éire Óg GAA Pavilion in Ovens. Caitríona won the Recitation Section in the Senior Scór County Final. A few weeks ago Caitríona captured the East Cork title in Lisgoold with her excerpt from “The Field” written by John B Keane. On Sunday night Caitríona gave a very polished performance. She was up against ten other competitors from all over Cork but got the votes from the judges. As well as her individual winners trophy, Caitríona was also presented with the Cork Co. Board Perpetual Cup. Caitríona now goes forward to represent her club, division and county in the Munster semi final on next Saturday night. This will be held in Ovens with the county winners from Cork, Tipperary and Waterford competing. Well done Caitríona and best wishes on Saturday night. Our Novelty Act team finished runners-up to Lisgoold – a repeat of the East Cork Final result and John and Marie Power performed very well in the Instrumental Music section. For supporters travelling to Ovens on Saturday night next, a reminder that the competitions will start at 7pm. sharp.
