County Ladies Footballer of the Year Award for Pamela Dowling

November 8, 2018

Pamela Dowling has been chosen as the Carlow Ladies Footballer of the Year for 2009.

Pamela has been a regular on the Carlow ladies team for several years and captained the team in 2009. Described as an ‘outstanding scoring midfielder who provides leadership on and off the field’, Pam took a break from county football to complete her studies as a Primary School Teacher, but the break seems to have done her good as she came back last year and had an outstanding season with both club and county. Pamela is also a leading light in the Clonmore Ladies Club and was involved in setting up the U-12 team in 2009 (which reached the county final) and is working on organising an U-14 team in 2010 as well. This award is a great boost to the Clonmore Ladies Club which is only a couple of years in existence. It shows that the great strides being made by the club, and Pamela’s major contribution, have not gone unnoticed by the other clubs of the county. Congratulations on this well deserved award Pam.

The Carlow GAA Awards Ceremony is on next Saturday night, 16 January, at 7.30pm in the Lord Bagenal, Leighlinbridge. MC will be Pauric Lodge, RTE, and tickets are €25.
