Rathmore 1-08 Spa 3-05

Rathmore had a disappointing start to the County League when they were defeated by Spa in Spa on Saturday evening last. Rathmore started the game brightly when Paul Reen found the net after 5 minutes. Spa replied with a Michael O’ Donoghue free in the 6th minute.

A Michael O’ Riordan point in the 9th minute left Rathmore leading by 3 points. Michael O’ Donoghue pointed again in the 11th minute but that was cancelled out by a John Buckley free in the 12th minute.
Rathmore went further ahead when Conor O’ Sullivan pointed in the 19th minute. Spa were back in the game when Conor Gleeson netted the ball in the 23rd minute, leaving the score Rathmore 1-03 Spa 1-02.
Rathmore went two ahead again when John Buckley converted a free in the 24th minute, but a Michael O’ Donoghue free at the end of the half left the minimum between the sides. Half time score Rathmore 1-04 Spa 1-03.
 

Spa levelled the game in the 3rd minute of the second half through the boot of Cian Tobin. Paul Reen put Rathmore ahead again in the 5th minute when he pointed. The game changed in the 14th and 15th minute when Spa found the Rathmore net twice as Tomas Lynch and Conor Gleeson finished their efforts to the net, to leave the score Rathmore 1-05 Spa 3-04.

 
Rathmore replied with three points in the 17th minute from the boot of George O’ Keeffe, Paul Reen in the 18th minute, and a free by John Buckley in the 20th minute. Rathmore pushed forward in waves of attacks but couldn’t add to their tally as they hit wide after wide in the last ten minutes. Spa got a point late in injury time to leave the final score Rathmore 1-08 Spa 3-05.
