U15 report
The under 15s suffered a 17-5 defeat away to Ballina on Saturday.Ballina contested league and cup finals at 14s grade last year so it was always going to be a tough assignment. The first ten minutes were even enough until a loose defensive kick from our goal line landed in their full backs lap on our 22 and he ran through to set up a simple try for their right winger, which was not converted. We spent the next 5 minutes in our own half and when yet another poor defensive kick fell into their hands we shipped a converted try to leavt it 12 nil after 20 minutes. However the last 10 minutes of the half saw a lift in performance with Shanagher,White and Diffley making inroads into ther defense, resulting in Diffley getting over for an unconverted try just before the break.
The second half was not in its second minute when clearance kick by Ballina was not dealt with resulting in them hacking on and winning the race for the touch down. The conversion was missed and for the remaining 28 minutes Creggs dominated the match with probably their best performance of the season.Unfortunately despite coming close on four occassions we could not score and even having to play the last quarter with 14 players we did not concede any other score.Colm Maye made an impressice debut with his sharp tackling catching the eye.We play a friendly against St Marys Ballygar on Tuesday night and host Sligo at weekend in the league, day and time to be decided
