Cross Border Floodlit T'ment FINAL: Clonmore 2-12 Na Fianna Og (Laois) 3-3

November 8, 2018

Clonmore u-15s put in a great performance to deservedly win the Cross Border Floodlit Tournament, beating Na Fianna Og (Laois) by 2-12 to 3-3 in the final.

Inspite of atrocious conditions, Clonmore played super football and dominated from the start. Having led by 0-7 to 1-1 at HT, we extended the lead to 1-9 to 1-3 on 40mins with Dylan Doyle showing great accuracy and the impressive Billy Lawlor scoring a cracking goal.

On top all over the field, we should never have been threatened but missed a sackful of goals (hitting the post twice) and, inevitably, Na Fianna hit us with two goals in three minutes to level the game: 1-9 to 3-3 on 48mins. Fair play to the lads, they dug deep and re-imposed themselves on the game to score 1-3 in the last ten minutes for a great win, Adam Deay's late goal putting the icing on the Christmas cake. Every player made an important contribution to this win in what was a magnificent team effort.
