The intermediate team got their first points on the board in the Secondary League, when defeating old rivals Kilmaine, in a close game in Ballindine on Saturday evening on a 2-13 to 1-13 scoreline. This was a real tit for tat game where the result was in doubt right up to the final whistle, and the championship clash between these two sides will be eagerly anticipated, as there wont be a kick of the ball between them, Kilmaine the championship specialists and Davitts regularly failing to deliver on their undoubted potential. Davitts led by 1-8 to 0-6 at the interval, but Kilmaine dominated the third quarter of the game, and indeed looked the likely winners when capitalising on a defensive error, to narrow the deficit to one point with fifteen minutes remaining.
