In Cork at the weekend, the Irish U18 girls contested the Home Nations Tournament.
They had an easy win over Wales on Saturday afternoon, beating them two-nil.
The match against England on Sunday evening proved more difficult. Ireland soaked up the pressure in the first half, but dominated the second half, & with ten minutes on the clock, Greenfields players saved the day!
Inspirational Dora Gorman broke several tackles in midfield, & fed the ball forward, where Katie Codyre deflected a shot from her winger, netting the only goal of the game.
Monday’s game against Scotland was a tense affair. The Irish defence found the pace of the Scottish forwards difficult to deal with. The Scots snapped the only goal, but Ireland’s standing placed them on top of the table, & they took the title for 2010.
Well done girls!
