Report:

It was a very disappointing result in Kilbride for the U12 team who put up a gallant performance, particularly in the second half. It was a warm and sunny evening in Kilbride with conditions perfect for football. Ballivor started brightly but were slow to get onto the scoreboard. A couple of early points were undone when Kilbride struck with an early goal. Ballivor were trying hard, but Kilbride appeared to be playing the better football and began to open up a lead. Toward the end of the half Ballivor got stronger and missed a few opportunities to add to their score but a goal late in the half meant that there was only a goal between the teams. Certainly the full back line for both teams were busy and were probably the best performers and kept the scoring as low as it was. In the second half, Ballivor appeared to up their game and were competing better than in the first half. Kilbride were still picking off the scores and their lead was building again. The scores were still proving elusive for Ballivor but a goal brought the lead back to 3 points. The 2 sides traded a couple points but Ballivor just could not get the score that would overturn the deficit. In the end, it was a 2 point victory for Kilbride. We wish them all the best in the Final and thank them for being generous hosts on the day. The U12 team will take a well earned rest for a week or so and then regroup for the Summer league which is due to start later this month.
