Division 3 Football League Semi Final.
Ballycumber 1 12 Cappincur 1 7.
Having finished second in the league Ballycumber achieved the satisfaction of reaching the final. This made up for the disappointment of missing out by a point in a thriller with Edenderry last year. A superb display in goal by John O’Brien and an outstanding exhibition of corner back play by Dessie Daly helped in no small way to this victory. John made a number of great saves and Dessie was on hand to clear the rebound. At the other end of the pitch Sam Lawler scored 4 points and Conrad Casey got 1–2, the goal coming after a brilliant Peter Dunne 40metre pass that left Conrad behind the defence. The introduction of Conor Connelly worked well and he accounted for three points and one which was waved wide by the umpire. Sean Hackett, Ciaran Grennan[ who shipped a very heavy knock but recovered to re-enter the fray later] and Pecker Dunne scored one point each. Daingean await in the final after they overcame table toppers Tullamore by 0–11 to 0–5 on Friday night.
