Division 3 Football League.
Ballycumber 0-10 Rhode 0–7.
The first league game of the new season was played under the excellent lights in wet and windy Rhode on Friday evening. Ballycumber travelled with a depleted squad, but the players who turned up did their very best in terrible conditions. A strong wind blew across the pitch making scoring very difficult. The underfoot conditions were very good which allowed the players to play open football. Unfortunately the ball was given away too often by both teams ans as a result a lot of effort went into chasing after missed placed passes. The half time score of 0-6 to 0-5 to Rhode reflected the state of play but in the second half the fitter players on the Ballycumber side took control and but for some wayward shooting would have had a decent lead. The half back line closed off nearly all Rhode attacks and were a launching platform for many attempts at goal.Eventually the clinching scores came and Ballycumber had secured the first pair of points. Team. Leo Guinan, Colm Kelly, Stevie Quinn, Aaron Daly, Niall Quinn, Chris McDonald, Dessie Daly, Paul Kelly, Sean Hackett, Peter Dunne, Dermot Egan, Shane Kelly, Eddie Larkin, John Galvin, Simon Casey, Jack Egan, Brian Guinan, Daniel Boland.
