SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW: All attention among local GAA following turned to the TF Royal Theatre & Event Centre in Castlebar on Wednesday, February 18th last and the draw for the 2009 Mayo senior football championships. Garrymore were drawn into Group 1 and will face Charlestown, Aghamore and Castlebar Mitchels. Charlestown, who defeated Garrymore last year on their march to the county final, will this year be paying a visit to Garrymore in what will be the clubs only home match. Johnny Monaghan’s army will first travel to Aghamore, then entertain Charlestown, followed by a final round trip to McHale Park to face the Mitchels. Garrymore have been very familiar with Charlestown over recent years in the club championship but Aghamore and Castlebar will be new challenges in championship football for Garrymore. It’s the third year in a row that Garrymore will have only one of their three group games at home so luck has deserted them again this year.
