Dublin Hurlers Lose out to Galway

November 8, 2018

GALWAY 0-17 DUBLIN 0-15

Dublin find themselves in a relegation dogfight following this narrow defeat to Galway in Pearse Stadium, Salthill on Sunday afternoon.

The Dubs must take at least a point from their final match against Limerick (Parnell Park, Sunday, April 18) to preserve their NHL Division 1 status as a victory for the Shannonsiders would see them survive and the Dubs tumble down the trapdoor.

Dublin led this clash with the Tribesmen with five minutes of normal time to play following a Shane Durkin point, his third from play of the afternoon.

However, it was Galway who found the crucial scores over the conclusion with Ollie Canning, Joe Canning, Kevin Hynes and Damien Hayes on target.

As they had done against Cork last time out the Dublin defence proved to be a stubborn nut for Galway to crack with Niall Corcoran particularly impressive while Peter Kelly also shone in defence after being moved there following the straight red card dismissal of Tomás Brady.

Brady and Cyril Donnellan were sent off in the 28th minute and the Na Fianna man is now ruled out of the important clash with Limerick in two weekends time.

Galway led 0-8 to 0-6 at the break and until their late scoring flurry from play were reliant on the placed ball expertise of Ger Farragher as they failed to score from play from the second minute until the 66th minute.
