Dublin win Junior Football All Ireland

Dublin won the All-Ireland JFC for the sixth time in their history when they defeated Roscommon in OMoore Park, Portlaoise on Saturday the 26/07/08.

The last outright success for the Dubs had come in 1960 with the other titles coming in 1914, 1916, 1939 and 1948.

Mick Deegan-managed the team they led at the break 0-6 to 0-5 and had to overcome the disadvantage of playing the last eight minutes of normal time with 14 men after Michael White was dismissed on a second yellow card.

With Denis Bastick doing well at midfield Dublin opened up a 0-6 to 0-2 lead after 21 minutes but failed to score again by the interval.

Points from Bastick, Johnny Cooper and Karl Connolly in quick succession moved Dublin clear and they never looked back.
