Dundalk Gaels v Naomh Malachi

November 8, 2018

Dundalk Gaels followed on from Sunday’s senior championship win with an important league win against Naomh Malachi on Thursday the 20th of August on a scoreline of 12-8.

Dundalk Gaels led 0-6 to 0-4 at the break after a good first half display with some good scores from Anthony McSorley and an impressive point from David Maloney.  The Gaels defense continued their strong display from Sunday with another solid display in the first half despite some poor refeering decisions.

Dundalk Gaels, despite being left standing in the heavy rain for 5 minutes, started the second half the strongest team…the rain clearly not affecting their performance! Sean McCann scored two excellent points before Malachis pulled back with two scores of their own to leave it 8-6 with 6 minutes played.  With 12 minutes gone another Sean McCann point left it 9-6 before, once again, the Malachis reduced the defecit to 2.  With 12 minutes gone substitute Paul Burke saw a good effort hit the post before Stephen Coleman saw his rebound shot well saved.  Derek Crilly scored the resultant 45 leaving it 10-7 with nearly 20 minutes of the second half played.  Once again the Malachis came back to reduce the deficit to 2 before a superb Eanna McArdle point put 3 between the teams.  The last score of the game went to Sean McCann leaving it 12-8.  Jamie Faulkner was very unlucky to be sent off for a second yellow with time up after another outstanding display at full back.

Another good team performance leaves the Gaels with 5 points in the senior league with some important games still to be played.
