Dundalk Gaels v Oliver Plunkets

November 8, 2018

Dundalk Gaels will be disappointed to have taken nothing from their Division 2 League fixture against the Oliver Plunkets on Tuesday the 22nd of June at the Ramparts.

The opening stages of the first half saw the teams exchange scores before the Plunkets netted twice to find themselves taking command.  Credit must be given to the Gaels team who didn’t put their heads down and fought back to get a Peter O’Kane goal with only a couple of minutes to spare in the first half to leave the half time score Dundalk Gaels 1-6 Oliver Plunkets 2-8

The second half again was very closely fought with the Gaels closing the 5 point deficit through an Errol Boyle goal and points from the impressive Eanna McArdle along with a Conall McArdle free and Anthony McSorley point.  The Gaels found themselves playing the majority of the second half with only 14 men after Errol Boyle was sent off for two bookable offences.  The Gaels rally wasn’t enough to take anything from the game as the Plunkets managed to pull away from the Gaels in the dying minutes and added on unanswered points to seal the victory.
