Edenderry BNS reach final

November 8, 2018

The hurlers of Edenderry BNS reached their Cumann na mBunscol for the second year in a row with a thrilling win over a fancied Durrow team. The match was always very close and had some great scores. Durrow raced into the lead with a point in the first 30 seconds. The first ten minutes of the game were played at a frantic pace and the Edenderry Boys edged back into the game. Points Conor Farrell and Shane Cummins saw them go ahead only for Durrow to draw level with a rasping rising shot. Aaron Holt then pounced on a loose ball to bury it in the net and Conor Farrell followed with another to give the Edenderry school a cushion as the second half approached.
Durrow again were first to score in the 2nd half, but the Edenderry Boys held on for a great win and make the final for the 2nd year in a row.

Kalem Connell was rock solid once again in goals while Adam Whelan and Andrew Moloney put in a storming performance in the full back line. Man of the match Lee Hyland gave his finest performance in a red jersey, scoring one spectacular long range point, while Peter McNamara and Oisin O’Grady were outstanding. At midfield Jack Foran continues to shine and Conor Groome also kept his best performance for this game too. Aaron Holt, Shane Cummins, Conor Farrell, Cian Farrell and Donie Groome were at their sharpest with outstanding hurling in the forwards and were unlucky not to have scored more, hitting the post on three occasions.
