Edenderry GAA Golf Society

November 8, 2018

The Edenderry GAA Golf Society (Captain Ken Corcoran) held their final outing of the year on Saturday last December 10th in the nearby Moyvalley  ‘Champions Club’ course and despite the chill in the air the usual committed regulars all attended with the aim of taking the last prize of the year.

After the scores were totted and checked by the captain our Senior Football manager and club legend Peter Brady showed he is just as adept with the golf clubs as he was on the playing field with a marvellous return of 34 points.  The father and son combination of Declan and Ciaran Farrell fought it out for second place with Declan just shading it with his 30 points, 1 ahead of Ciaran’s 29.

The full results were:

First: Peter Brady  34 points.   Second: Declan Farrell 30 points   Third: Ciaran Farrell  29 points.

Our Society would like to acknowledge the generosity of our sponsors  on the day namely Liam ‘Morley’ Brereton who donated a fabulous first prize as well as Liam Corcoran Snr and Ken himself who donated wonderful prizes on the day.

In his closing speech of the year Ken thanked all the players who participated during the year and the other sponsors to who we are indebted Willie Forde, Eugene Byrne and Finbarr Cullen and Sean Grennan.

As the year draws to a close the society would like to say a huge thanks to Ken for being a wonderful committed captain of the society and would like to welcome our new society captain Niall Comerford.  Niall is a former player who won many honours and was part of the great 1995-2001 senior football team who won 4 county championships and is still involved in the club today in and administration and coaching capacity. We wish him well in his new role for 2012.
