Edenderry Seniors have now moved up to fourth place in the Div 1 League following this hard earned victory over Tullamore in O’Brien Park on Saturday evening.
Tullamore started the game with great pace and built an early lead thanks to to two very soft goals. credit to the Edenderry men who showed great heart to drag themselves back into the game and at half time they were behind by two point on an unusual scoreline of 3-01 to 1-05.
Yet again Tullamore started the second half on a bright note with points in quick succession to open a five point lead, however Edenderry pegged them back in their own defence for large parts of the last quarter. Edenderry chipped away at the lead and when Sean Doyle scored a wonder point from the right wing, Tullamores lead was down to a single point.
Cometh the hour, cometh the man as the saying goes and right on the hour mark Johnny Hurst was the hero for Edenderry as he calmly found the net to put Edenderry in the lead for the first time in the game.
Soon after referee Martin Carty blew his final whistle and Edenderry had escaped from Tullamore with both league points in the bag.
