JUNIOR A:
Our Junior A team won their penultimate game of the Tansey Cup league stage with a narrow victory against Kilbride on Friday in Kilbride. Elphin had a strong breeze in their backs for the 1st half but failed to take full advantage being only a couple of points ahead at half time. Points were traded early on before Kilbride got a fortunate deflected goal. Elphin hit back with a punched goal by John Conroy after a long delivery into the Kilbride goal area. Frankie Cregg then scored a 2nd goal after his initial effort was blocked.
The 2nd half didn`t start well for Elphin and the game seemed to be drifting away from us but after about 10 minutes the team began to play some good football. Ronan Beirne `s goal proved decisive, after his 1st effort was blocked he should composure to win the ball back, and shoot through a crowd of players into the corner of the net.
The last 10 minutes were end to end. Some good defending and good saves by Brian Oates kept Kilbride out and 3 points from Frankie Cregg, Colm Nerney, and  Martin McCaffrey saw Elphin win on a scoreline of  Elphin 3-08 Kilbride 2-09.

TEAM: B. Oates, K. Beirne, D. Cregg, B. Finn, M. Callery, M. Travers, R. Morris, P. Kelleher, D. Hynes, C. Nerney, D. Neary, M. McCaffrey, F. Cregg, J. Conroy.
SUBS: S. McDermott, R. Beirne.

JUNIOR B:

A strong Michael Glaveys outfit overcame an Elphin side which showed five changes from the team which defeated Ballinameen the last day out.
The game started brightly with chances for both sides. Good long range point taking and a goal midway through the first half put Glaveys in control. Elphin replied with what looked like a good goal of their own but it was adjudged a square ball by the vigilant referee Peter Neary. Points from Shane Farrell and a John Lambert free were all Elphin had to show for their first half efforts. Half time score Elphin 0-2 Glaveys 1-5.
The second half was an evenly contested affair but Elphin found scores hard to come by. A 45 from David Hynes and a nice point from Liam Taylor were not enough to clawback the Glaveys lead. A couple of late scores saw the visitors run out comfortable winners on a scorline of 0-4 to 1-8.

TEAM:  B. Oates, Jim Keane, K. Beirne, R. Morris, L. Taylor,  M. Higgins, C. Nerney, D. Hynes,  Dermot Neary, J. Conroy, J. Lambert, J. McDermott, D. Donlon, S. Farrell, D. O`Reilly
SUBS: S. McDermott for J Conroy, P. Taylor for J. Lambert, P. Costello for D. Reilly, K. Reynolds for D. Donlon
