JUNIOR A CHAMPIONSHIP:
Our Junior A team have qualified for the quarter final of the A championship with a win over St. Croans in an entertaining match at Orchard Park on Sunday.
The 1st half was evenly contested. Elphin had slightly the better of the play with Dermot Neary winning a large amount of possession at midfield. This helped edge Elphin in front at the break on a score line of 0-06 to 0-04.
Elphin stretched the lead to 3 points after the break but scores were hard to come by and the result was always in the balance. Late on Elphin managed to increase the lead to 4 which was enough to see out the game despite some late St. Croans pressure. Final score Elphin 0-12 St. Croans 0-08.

ELPHIN LADIES GAA NOTES:
JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP:
Elphin 3-6 St Dominic’s 2-6
Elphin had an excellent three point win in the second round of the Junior championship in Elphin on Saturday evening. This result following on from an earlier win against St Faithleachs puts the team in a good position to reach the Semi finals for the first time.
Elphin started well and Joan Gunn at full forward scored a goal from their first attack. Dominic’s then dominated but found scores hard to come by. Points from Orla King and Katie Killoran gave Elphin a five point half time lead on a score line of Elphin 1- 4 St Dominic’s 0-2. Two excellent goals in the second half by Clare Ames and Orla Glancy kept Elphin ahead. Dominic’s however never gave up and in spite of a frantic finish Elphin had enough scored to win by three.
This was a real team effort with all sixteen players contributing to a great win. However special mention must go to Sarah Lambert in goals, Katie Killoran, Deborah Beirne Christine Glancy and Orla King who were outstanding throughout.
