Elphin GAA CLUB NOTES 28th May 2018

Well done to the Junior Bs on defeating Tulsk on a scoreline of 3.13 to 15 points on Sunday last.  

 

Big congratulations and well done to Elphin Ballinameen U16s team on beating Roscommon Gaels 1-14 to 1-07 in the League Final. It was a hard fought game with all the players giving it their best.  A massive Thank you to John Conroy, Aidan Main and Greg Clarke for all of their hard work and commitment given to the lads over the last few months.
 
The U14's won the Shield semi final beating St. Brigids on a score of 7-5 to 2–15. Please see papers for details of the final.

 

The U-12 played St. Brigids in the Shield Final on Saturday last. Unfortunately they lost out by the narrowest of margins 13 points to 12.

 

Elphin LGFA:
Our U14's played away to Kilbride Wednesday evening in the glorious sunshine. Kilbride got off to a great start with a few quick scores while playing into the sun. Elphin / Kilmore picked up the pace and brought it back to an even keel going in at half time trailing by just 1 point 3-03 to 3-02. The second half brought about two sides battling it out to the finish with some tense moments with Elphin / Kilmore leading by 1 point with 3 minutes to go. Elphin / Kilmore secured their win with a last minute goal finishing up 5-03 to 3-05. Next game 30th May away to St. Ciarans.

 

U12 trainings will now take place every Friday at 7pm in the Orchard. Next match 4th June at 6pm at home to Michael Glaveys.

 

Well done to our footballers Abby Canning, Annie Kelly, Charlotte Geraghty & Rachel Gormley who are part of the U10 & U16 draughts teams participating in the Aldi Community Games May Festival in University of Limerick where they reached the All Ireland Finals. The U10's team placed 4th and the U16's took 3rd place. Congrats to all involved on such an amazing achievement.

 

A massive well done too everyone who took part in the couch to 5km over last few months!  And thanks to everyone who made it out on Saturday morning for the finale.  Thanks to the organisers and everyone who people who helped out at the event in any way also to Elphin Pharmacy for the gift for participants at the end. Also too Conor Beirne and MacMull plant hire for all their work getting the walkway completed in time.  The event has been a great success so good that the participants will continue each Tuesday and Thursday meeting at Orchard Park and the next aim for the group is the 5k in Strokestown coming up.   Anyone welcome to join.

 

Congrats to Aidan Main on receiving a certificate marking his participation in the Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative at a ceremony in Croke Park last Saturday
