Elphin GAA CLUB NOTES 6th Oct 2014

The Senior Teams season has come to a close, the Club thanks Brendan Guckian and Seamus Killoran for their hard work and professionalism managing the team and Jim McLoughlin for his first aid assistance throughout the year. 

The Juniors play St. Brigids B in the last round of the Division Three League on Sunday at 12pm in The Orchard. 

Congratulations to our minors who recorded a comfortable win versus St. Faithleachs in the Championship on Sunday morning. They are now through to the County Final in two weeks time. The panel on the day was: Aaron Brady, Paddy Giblin. Christy O'Connor, Dylan Shanagher, Luke Mollahan, Gavin Higgins, Cormac Beirne, Aidan Murray, Nessan Lenehan, Cillian Fox, Joseph Beirne, Daithi Kennedy, Ciaran Beirne, Oran Beirne, Dima Kelly, Shane Mulhern, Sean Duarte & Daniel Giblin. Training resumes tomorrow evening (Tuesday) and on Friday, at 7:30 on both evenings, and all panellists are asked to make a special effort to make it to training for the last two weeks of the season. 

A history of Elphin GAA (1980-2014) is currently being compiled and the research on the 1980s are almost complete. The Club is seeking photos of the following teams: 1980 Under 12 and / or the 1982 Under 14 team, the 1981 Under 21 Team, the 1986 Senior County Final team and any other group photos, or information on Junior teams from the decade, would also be welcome. The Club extends our deepest sympathies to the Fallon family, Scorbeg on the death of Kevin's mother Maureen, the Donlon family, Carnular on the death of Nancy, the Mulvey family Lecarrow on the death of Charlie and the Brady family, Brooklyn and Elphin on the death of Kevin, one of the last surviving members of the Senior Championship winning team of 1957. 

There was no winner of Saturday's Club Lotto Jackpot. Numbers Drawn 9,11,12, 22. The Four Lucky Dip Winners of €25 were Seanie O'Beirne, Ronan Collins, Kieran Gormley, Michael Donlon (Lucan). The Jackpot is now €3,900 and Saturday's Draw will be held in The Tower Inn. You can also play on-line at
