Elphin GAA CLUB NOTES 8th Dec 2014

November 8, 2018

Our 125 Celebration Banquet was a great success and a very enjoyable night out. The event saw the highly anticipated announcement of the Club's 35 Year All-Star team and after much deliberation the recipients were as follows:

Paul Staunton;
Liam Tiernan, Donal Brady, Paddy O'Connor;
Conor Beirne, Dermot Neary, Ronan Brady;
Seamus Killoran, Brian Higgins;
Fintan Cregg, John Kelly, Rossa O'Callaghan;
Coman Reynolds, Adrian Garvey and Matt Hynes.

The Player of the Year Awards were also announced and the winners were as follows:
Senior – Shane Killoran,
Junior – Paul Morris
Under 21 – Cathal Brady.

The second volume of the Club's History – covering the period from 1980 to 2014, was launched at the Banquet and is an ideal stocking filler, especially for those living away from Elphin. Priced at €10 it is on sale now from local Shops and from Club Secretary Anne Rock. Books are selling fast and the advice is to buy now to avoid disappointment.

The Club wishes to thank all those who contributed to the 125 Celebration events so far: The Landmark Hotel and the musicians from Slider; our special guests Liam O'Neill, Brian Carroll, John Prenty, Aidan O'Mahoney, Micheal and Ursula Mulleady and all who attended the Banquet; the organising Committee, who made it all possible; the All-Star selection Committee; author of the Club History Michael Rock and all those who contributed to the publication.

The entries in the All-Star prediction competition are being sorted and the winner will be announced soon.

The next event on the Celebration calendar will see many of our Senior Players and Club Officials take to the stage to perform the John B Keane classic “The Man from Clare” in the Community Centre on Saturday December 20th. Full details will follow next week.

Best of luck to all our representatives in the Scór na nÓg County Finals, which take place in the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone on Sunday at 1pm. This is an all ticket event and tickets are available from the Box Office on (090) 649 2129 or on-line at www.deancrowetheatre.com

Circuit Training, for 14 – 18 year olds, resumes this Friday at 7pm in the Community Centre and a good turnout is expected.
