Elphin GAA CLUB NOTES 8th Sept 2014

November 8, 2018

The Seniors secured their Championship status for 2015 with a 1-18 to 2-3 win over St. Aidans in the Relegation Final on Saturday evening. Thank you to all who travelled to support them. The team's last game of the season will be a League game against Roscommon Gaels on a date TBC.

The Minors got back to winning ways on Friday evening against Kilbride. Played in far from ideal conditions it was Elphin who took the initiative with an early goal and never looked back after that. Although it was a nip and tuck in the first half we kept the upper hand until half time to a lead on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-4. After the resumption Elphin piled on the pressure and held out for a comfortable win on a scoreline of 2-18 to 1-4. This was by far the best team performance from the group this year and we hope they can continue to push on for remainder of the year. Training continues on Tuesday and at 7pm and the team are due to host St. Ronans in Round 5 of the Championship on Sunday at 12:15.

The Under 12s narrowly lost to St. Ciarans in a very closely contested game on Sunday morning. They host Boyle in the next round of the competition on Sunday at 11am.

Thank you to Peter Carney and visiting Coaches Michael Carroll and Cathal Cregg who ran a very informative and enjoyable coaching workshop last Friday and Saturday and thank you to the Under 16 players who took part in the drill session on Saturday.

There was no winner of last weekend's Club Lotto Draw, numbers drawn: 5, 18, 19 and 28. The Four Lucky Dip winners of €25 each were Padraig Beirne, Brendan Neary, Gerry McDermott, Roscommon Town and Ollie Harte, Kilclare, Carrick-on-Shannon. Next week’s draw will be held in the “Central Bar” on Saturday and the Jackpot will be €3,500. Play on-line athttps://www.locallotto.ie/play.asp?LL_ID=321

The new Training Pitch is progressing well and thank you to everyone who helped pick stones from the surface last Sunday afternoon. It was a great effort by almost 50 people and the work will be of great benefit to the development. Here are the last people standing:
