Feile na nOg

November 8, 2018

There was heartbreak for the young Edenderry girls in Derry last Saturday as they conceeded a last minute goal against Monague to miss out on a Feile Na nOg semi-final spot.

Both Edenderry and Monague had accounted for local sides Naomh Brid and Aodh Ruadh with ease in earlier rounds. So that meant the final match of the group came down to the two strongest sides Edenderry and Monague.

After a great effort from two evenly matched sides, Edenderry just missed out when a last ditch effort from Monague yielded a goal which sent them through by the narrowest of margins.

Monague went on to defeat Simontown Gaels in the semi-final on Saturday evening, but in the final on Sunday they went down to St Laurence O’Tooles by just three points.

On a happier note Edenderry’s Shauna Ward won out the Feile Na nOg skills competition, beating off some very talented girls from around the country.

The Edenderry panel also won the award of the ‘Best dressed team’ at the Feile Na nOg parade held in Derry on Friday evening.

Edenderry GAA would like to congratulate all the players and management on their wonderful achievement of reaching the Feile Na nOg and representing Offaly in Derry. And a special congratulations to Shauna Ward who was crowned skills champion of Ireland.
