Flanagan Cup Shield Replay: Kilmovee Shamrocks prove too strong for Eastern Gaels…

November 8, 2018

Kilmovee Shamrocks defeated Eastern Gaels (3:12 to 1:07) to capture the Flanagan Shield in Abbey Park on Saturday the 19th of April.

A goal and three points in the first five minutes set Kilmovee on course for an easy victory over a disappointing Easter Gaels side. Kilmovee delighted their fans in the large attendance with some excellent scores in the second half and they had strong performers in Sean Horan, James Horan, Mark Higgins and Brian Regan. Eastern Gaels battled to the end and Paul O’Gara, Peter Walsh and Kieran Kelly can be proud of their displays on the day.

A delighted Kilmovee Captain Brent Barry accepted the Flanagan Shield from Mayo Gaels vice-chairman John Gallagher and Mayo Gaels secretary Maureen Burke. John and Maureen thanked Kilmovee and Eastern Gaels for their participation in this year’s 2014 Flanagan Tournament and for their support of the ‘Night For Ella’ Benefit Fund. Both teams were also wished the best of luck for the 2014 season.

After the presentation both sets of players and supporters enjoyed refreshments in the clubhouse – all in all an enjoyable end to a great 2014 Tournament.
