Junior Football

Last Wednesday night under lights in Newcastle our Junior footballers played Fr Sheehys in the semi final of the County Intermediate football league. Due to a mixture of injury and illness we only had 16 players to choose from on the night. Our concession of frees gave Fr Sheehys easy chances to score which they took advantage of and they went in leading 5 points to 2 at half time. In the second half our lads were more composed and played with confidence. They had chances to win it but just couldn't manage to get that final score that would seal victory and the match finished level on a scoreline of 1-6 each. On we went to extra time and once again there was nothing between the sides for most of it. Unfortunately for us though time ran out and we lost by the minimum on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-9. The team on the night was Richie Needham, Kieran Clancy, Colm Dunne, Ciarán Mockler, Shane Gorey, Paddy Moroney, Conor Barry, Cathal Mahoney, Aidan Buckley, Nicky Kearney, Mark Mullally, Conor Clancy, Darren Boland, Tony O Brien, Aaron Cronin Subs John Moroney

Under 21 hurling

Our u21 hurlers played Moyle Rovers in their second group game last Saturday afternoon in Kilsheelan. We were missing a few regulars on the day but Moyle Rovers were always in control and they ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-15 to 1-14. We must now beat Ballybacon in our final group game to hope to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition. This match will be next Sunday at 2 pm in Ballylooby.. The team last Saturday was: Mark Mullally, Ciarán Mockler, Ronan Fitzgerald, Willie Morgan, Paul Moloney, Brian Healy, Conor Clancy, Brian Delahaunty, Aidan Buckley, Brendan Gleeson, Robbie Meagher, Ciarán O Meara, Mark Slattery, Cathal Hurley, Darren Boland Subs: Conor Gorey, Jack Purcell, Tommy O Brien.

Minor Hurling

Last Saturday our minor hurlers finally played their final group game against Mullinahone in Clonmel. We needed a win to qualify for the knockout phase. The game was played in terrible conditions. Although we didn't play great in the first half we were leading at half time on a scoreline of 2-4 to 0-2. In the second half though we just couldn't build on the lead we had and Mullinahone found scores much easier to come by. They coped with the conditions a lot better than us. In a tight game Mullinahone won on a scoreline of 2-5 to 1-9. The team was: Darren Boland, Jack Purcell, Ciarán Mockler, Conor Gorey, Charlie Manton, Conor Clancy, Ross McCormack, Paul Moloney, Niall Keane, Cathal Mahoney, Jody Sheehan, Joey Noonan, Conor Cuddihy, Aidan Buckley, Jamie Broderick Subs: Eoin O Donovan, Barry O Dwyer, Alex Donovan, Cameron Moynihan, Shane Hannigan.
