Mr.Gibbons commented:
“A number of local people have raised their concerns with me about the looseness of the land close to the road, and there are serious concerns that come heavy rainfall there may be slippage from the mountain. This concern is not unfounded as we have seen from last year’s landslide onto the very same road. This should have been a lesson for all concerned to make sure there was no repeat.”
He continued:
“It is important that agencies get involved to carry out the immediate securing of land at the side of this road. We must ensure that there is no risk to drivers on this road and I will be lobbying the Roads Service in order to have this dealt with as a matter of urgency, before we are once again faced with another road closure.”
