Greenfields I 1 – 0 Galway I
This afternoon in Dangan, the two rival teams of Greenfields 1sts & Galway 1sts gathered to contest the Connacht Senior League. In perfect sunny conditions, the match was hard fought, both sides desparate for victory. A win for Galway would see them top of the table. A win for Greenfields would see them equal on points with Galway, at the top of the table.
This tough match remained scoreless at half-time. The squad dug deep in the second half, & a goal from team-captain Neasa McGettigan sealed the victory for Greenfields.
With both teams now on equal points at the top of the table, a decider match will be played on Tues May 11th, to crown the League winner. (Goal-Difference does not apply in the Connacht Senior League – the winner must win outright).
Tuesday’s victor will proceed to the Irish Hockey League qualifiers, which take place in Dublin on May 14th, 15th & 16th.
