Greenfields bow out of Irish Challenge Competition.

November 8, 2018

Greenfields 2nds travelled to Naas this weekend, hoping to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Irish Hockey Challenge Competition.

In a tense and exciting match, Naas were leading two-nil at half time.
The second half saw Greenfields make a strong come-back.
Alma Whelan scored their first goal, capitalising on a superb pass from Mary Healy.
Mary herself also found the back-board, making the sides equal.
Naas nudged ahead three-two, then with 30 seconds left to full-time, Alison Ryan scored the equaliser.

The game went to ‘Extra-Time/Golden-goal’, & unfortunately for Greenfields, Naas scored first, after only 10 seconds.Coach Bryan Madden, while naturally disappointed, paid tribute to the team’s outstanding display of hockey, & wished well to Nass as they progress to the semi-finals on March 7th.
