Greenfields' U18 Internationals - Where are they now??

November 8, 2018

Greenfields Hockey Club has been very successful over the years in bringing young players through the ranks of the underage section to full international status.  The performance of the most recent players gives the club a great sense of pride.

Dora Gorman, recently returned from the U17 World Cup Soccer Competion, (where she captained the team, AND led them as far as the quarter finals!), continues to play hockey with her school, club & province.  A leaving-cert student at Dominican College, Taylor’s Hill, Dora will line out next month with the Connacht U18 Hockey squad, when they compete in the U18 Interprovincial Tournament in Dublin.

Irene Gorman, Dora’s older sister, continues with her medical studies at Trinity College Dublin.  With her busy schedule, she still manages to fit in her hockey, & plays with TCD Firsts.

Brenda Flannery, has left home this month to further her studies at UCD.  On a Sports-Scholarship, Brenda takes her rightful place on UCD Firsts.  Having captained the Irish U18’s to 5th place at the EuroNations Tournament in July 2009,  Brenda was selected on the ‘Ireland A’ panel, but held-over her place due to leaving-cert studies.  No doubt Ireland will be beckoning again!

Katie Codyre, has also left home this month, for the libraries of DCU.  A member of the Irish U18 team which won the Home Nations Tournament in Cork this summer, Katie has now joined Hermes HC, who reached the semi-final of the Irish Hockey League in 2010, going out in a penalty shoot-out against the eventual winners Railway Union.

Wishing you all continued success in your hockey careers!
