Huge Numbers attend Workshop

November 8, 2018

Over 100 people attended the Club Planning Workshop on Wed night in the Pavilion. As an exercise in gathering a wide section of views on where the Club needs to go, it was an amazing success.

The night opened with some brief remarks from the Strategic Planning Steering Committee Chairman – Colm Cummins. Colm welcomed Keiran Leddy and his team from Croke Park, Paul O’Kelly & Orla Cullen who would be running the workshop on behalf of the Club.

Colm outlined the reasons why the Club had decided to initiate the process of Club Planning and what they hoped to achieve. It was requested that everyone remain positive on the night and contribute to the future of the Club.

The Workshop Process

The workshop format allowed for everyone to express their concerns and ideas on a range of issues. A sample of the areas discussed were as follows;

Coaching and Games development (Adult & Underage)
Finance & Fundraising
Communications & PR
Facilities
Club Structures

The feedback on each of these sections was excellent and some brillant ideas surfaced on the night. There was a real feel of fresh thinking in the room and a feeling a certain momentum has been created.

However the next steps are crucial and the steering group will require help in finalising the plan over the comming weeks.

Next Steps

In order to get all the ideas gathered at the workshop into the plan, six focus groups have been formed to deal with a number of issues.

Chairpersons have been appointed to each topic and 3 – one hour meetings have been arranged for the coming weeks to finalise the plan.

Following the workshop people were requested to volunteer to serve for the 3 – one hour meetings in an area that was of interest to them. Luckily we had many volunteers, however it is not too late to come on board and help out so if you couldn’t make it last night but feel you may be of assistance in one of the areas below, come along to the meetings and help out.

IT’s ONLY A 3 HOUR COMMITMENT

Persons that volunteered last night will be contacted in the coming days by the Chairperson below – however if additional people wish to get involved they are very welcome
