Hurlers Defeat Seir Kieran

Last Tuesday evening in Edenderry Hurlers made a great start to the 2009 Championship with one point victory over Seir Kieran on a scoreline of 1-09 to 1-08 at home.

Edenderry made a great start to the game with influential centre forward Sean Og Farrell scoring a goal and two points, before Seir Kieran registered their opening score. But soon the men from Clareen stamped their authority on the game and dominated the remainder of the half, outscoring Edenderry by eight points to two.

Halftime, Edenderry 1-04 Seir Kieran 0-08.

Edenderry opened the scoring in the second half to level the game, before Seir Kieran scored a goal to go three points clear. The turning point in the game came with the introduction of Cillian Farrell who scored three points, as Edenderry went on to score four unanswered points to win by a point.

Edenderry had some good performances from Enda Bagnall, Shane Kelly, Paul Glennon, Eoin Kelly, Sean Og Farrell and Cillian Farrell. The hurlers will play one more challenge before the next round of the Championship against Coill Dubh on Friday 29th May in Coill Dubh at 7.30pm.
