Hurling Championship Commences in Offaly

The first games in the Aidan Bracken Building Design Senior Hurling Championship for 2010 were held on Thursday, 22nd April.

In Group 1, reigning champions Tullamore were defeated 1-15 to 1-12 by Coolderry at Kilcormac. Meanwhile, at Carrig, Kinnitty defeated Shinrone by 1-10 to 1-8.

There was also one game in the Intermediate Hurling Championship on Thursday evening, where Ballinamere defeated Clara 2-12 to 1-10 at O’Connor Park.

On Friday night, Birr had a comprehensive 3-24 to 2-16 win over last year’s beaten finalists Kilcormac/Killoughey in Group 2.  The other games both finished level: St Rynagh’s 1-17 Seir Kieran 2-14 and Brosna Gaels 1-9, Lusmagh 1-9.

On Saturday, 24th April, the action continued at O’Connor Park in the SHC, where Belmont defeated Shamrocks 2-13 to 0-17.

Meanwhile, in the Intermeidate Hurling Championship, St Rynagh’s beat Ballyskenagh 3-8 to 2-4, Kilcormac/ Killoughey defeated Coolderry 3-11 to 1-13 and Killurin beat Birr 2-7 to 1-8.

In the Junior ‘A’ HC, Ballinamere beat Raheen 1-11 to 1-8 while Kinnitty defeated Edenderry 4-11 to 1-12.
