IFC: Clonmore 1-9 Ballinabranna 2-13

November 8, 2018

Having won the first three games of the Championship fairly comfortably, this game proved to be a reality check. However, while certain weaknesses were exposed, all is not lost as we are through to the quarter final and the winning margin did not reflect the closeness of the game as there was never much between the teams.

Clonmore led by 0-7 to 0-5 coming up to half time but B’branna scored 1-1 in the dying minutes of the half to lead by 1-6 to 0-7 at the break. Similarly, a great Gavin Byrne goal brought Clonmore to within two points of B’branna (1-11 to 1-9) on 60 mins before B’branna scored 1-2 in injury time as we chased the game with only 14 men (Ronan Doyle sent off for two yellow cards).

Table toppers B’branna go straight into the semi-final with Clonmore through to the Quarter-final. The match against Ballon next weekend will decide 2nd and 3rd places in the Group.
