Intermediate team draw in O’Mara Cup with Shrule-Glencorrib 0-7 to 1-4

Mayo Gaels 0-7 Shrule Glencorrib 1-4

The Gaels can breath a sigh of relief coming away with a draw in the second round of our O’Mara Cup campaign on Saturday in Mayo Abbey.

The first score of the game came after Jonathan Morrin’s goal attempt was blocked down and out for a 45′ which was calmly slotted over by Cathal Vahey. After a number of fumbles amongst the Gaels defence Shrule stretched the lead with a goal to leave two points between the sides. The quick movement of James Fallon narrowed the gap for the Gaels with his point, followed by a well taken shot from Sean Boyle. Following James Fallon’s fetch at midfield, Danny Burke’s point allowed the Gaels go into halftime, with the scoreline of 1-1 to 0-4.

Six minutes into the second half Mayo Gaels notched up the first score of the half thanks to Jonathan Griffin and Danny Burke responded with another fine score to leave the home side two points ahead. But Shrule soon responded, and after twenty munutes replied with three points in quick succession to leave them a point ahead. The second half was a lackluster affair with Jonathan Griffin providing one final point on the 25th minute of the half to leave the sides level come full time.
