Mayo Gaels 0-7 Hollymount 2-13
Our intermediate team ended their O’Mara Cup campaign with defeat at home to Hollymount at a wet and windy
Hollymount made a flying start and had 1-3 on the board after fifteen minutes. They could have had at least another two goals through slack defending were it not for fine saves by goalie Paul Mannion. The Gaels briefly woke up and Damien Quinn got their first point of the game from play. But Hollymount responded with three further points from play to stretch their lead to eight points. A Jonathan Morrin free and another point from play by Damien Quinn were the final acts of the first half to leave the halftime score Mayo Gaels 0-3 Hollymount 1-6.
As in the first half Hollymount were the much sharper at the start of the second half and they kicked four points from play to lead by ten points.
