Fundraising
Sean Treacys have recently appointed a fundraising committee. Comprising John McHugh, Sean Kennedy, Myles Devitt, Kevin Browne, Fr Enda Brady and William Ryan they have taken on the task of fundraising for the running of the club to support the general running costs, the development of the club grounds and the promotion of fair play and coaching at all grades. In typical Sean Treacys spirit the group have taken to the task with gusto and have set out a number of events throughout the coming year starting off with a monster table quiz, known as The Pride of the Village, whereby using remote video link a parish table quiz takes place in Kennedys Bar Rearcross, The Cross Bar Kilcommon and Jim Ryan’s Bar Hollyford.
We ask that all supporters, members, players and indeed all parishioners support the efforts of the committee as we strive to build on our recent underage success and bring home silverware whilst continuing to concentrate on the coaching and development of our juvenile teams
We hope to see you all at the Pride of The Village quiz in your local on 16th May at 9pm
County Intermediate Championship
We played Golden Kilfeacle in round 3 of the county intermediate championship on Sunday 10th in Clonoulty. In terrible conditions we were first to settle with pointed frees from Patrick Carey and Denis Stapleton. We then raced into a 9-2 lead approaching half time with good scores coming from Sean Ryan, Brian and Seamus Carey but a ball into the danger area was deflected out for a 65 to Golden, the resultant placed ball fell short and led to confusion in our square and the ball broke kindly to Golden corner forward Shane Stapleton who poked to the net from close range.
On the resumption we again started brightly with fine scores coming from the Carey brothers but Golden now with conditions in their favour were gaining momentum and placing our backs under increasing pressure which led to frees all of were punished by Josh Keane.
We were battling strongly to the end but a clearance to space led to another foul on the busy Keane who dusted himself down and shot the equaliser which was the last score of the game. The sides finished all square on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-08
The team lined out as follows: Shane Stapleton, Tom Hickey, Declan Hickey, Paul Ryan, Emmet Ryan, Denis Stapleton (0-02), Andy O'Brien, Sean Hickey, Sean Ryan (0-02), Matt Feehan, Seamus Carey (0-01), Tom Ryan, Brian Carey (0-02), Jody Ryan, Patrick Carey (0-04). Subs used: Darragh Kennedy & Donncha O'Brien.
We have a bye in round 4 in our final game we play Ballybacon Grange.
