West Intermediate Championship
We played Rockwell Rovers in Golden on Wednesday 3rd June in the semi-final of the Losers Group. Having already suffered defeat to Rockwell and now minus key players due to injury and exams we were facing an uphill battle from the off but we got off to a flying start and were in front by 1-3 to 0-1 after seven minutes as the Rockwell back line conceded three frees in the first four minutes, which Paddy Carey duly converted. Then in the seventh minutes Paudie Carey collected a delivery in the front of the Rockwell goals, turned and stuck it in the net.

Rockwell settled down and began to notch up a series of points and, after twenty minutes they were ahead by 0-7 to 1-3. Crucially Rockwell were using their period of dominance to seek goals and passed up opportunities to forge further ahead but our rear-guard stood firm and Shane Stapleton was alert to any danger. We resurrected our efforts and in two minutes added 1-1, the goal coming from Shane Fahy, who caught the Rockwell goalkeeper off his line. During the remaining minutes Treacys scored another point but Rockwell added three to leave the half-time score 2-5 to 0-10 at the interval.

We resumed in a more determined mood and added four points to Rockwell's one during the crucial third quarter. Rockwell came more into the game and they added two points but in the sixteenth minute Jody Ryan had a goal to put us in the driving seat once again. Fahy added a point and this put Treacys in front by 3-11 to 0-14.

Rockwell were not finished yet and struck back with a T.J. Ryan goal but again we responded with three points. In the twenty-ninth minute Alan Moloney scored Rockwell's second goal but once again we asserted ourselves and scores from Fahy again and Patrick Carey rounded off proceeding and we recorded victory on a scoreline of 3-16 to 2-15.
