Irish Hockey League Round IV

November 8, 2018

UCD, one of the top club teams in the country (2014 IHL Cup & Irish Senior Cup Winners) who field seven International players & four Irish U21's, had a comprehensive  victory  over Greenfields in Dangan last Saturday afternoon.
It was always going to be a tough day for Greenfields having had no competitive fixtures in over three weeks due to frozen pitches and with one of their key players getting injured in the warm up. This seemed to unsettle the home side who conceded  4 goals within the first 10 minutes and UCD led 5-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Greenfields got to grips with the pace of the game in the 2nd quarter  and put some pressure on the UCD defence however UCD converted 2 short corners before half time.

UCD Continued to dominate  the play in the 3rd quarter with their international players shining through, adding another goal to their tally.

The 4th quarter played a similar story as the previous one, with UCD having the lions share of possession adding two more to bring the final score to 10 nil.

Their goalscorers were Chloe Watkins (4), Anna O'Flanagan (3), Nikki Evans (2) and Emma Duncan (all members of the Irish Senior squad).

Well done Greenfields for fighting to the end and never giving up!

Huge credit must go the Greenfields Committee, parents, club members and supporters who put in enormous work behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Where would the club be without them!! Well done to all involved.
