Last Sunday we had 2 games in the Noel Mackey Auctioneers sponsored East Cork Junior Football Leagues. Both games were at home. In Division 1 a late Lisgoold point earned them a draw at 1-7 apiece.
Bride Rovers Junior A footballers shared the spoils with Lisgoold after an hour of football in Rathcormac on Sunday morning. The highlight of the first half for the Rovers was a goal from Pat O’ Reilly on the stroke of half time. The second half was similar to the first with neither team taking maximum advantage from their dominant spells however Lisgoold will have gone home the happier having rescued a draw with the last kick of the game. Sean Ryan and Liam Forde were never found wanting in the middle of the field and the energetic Shane Kearney, Shane Murphy and Trevor Maloney showed best in defence. Up front Jerome O’ Driscoll stood out with a return of four points and for the third game in succession Alan O’ Keefe proved to be a handful at full forward. Bride Rovers travel to Fr O’ Neills on Saturday next at 3pm for their fourth league match in successive weeks and will be up against it to maintain their unbeaten run in the 2007 campaign.
