James Keating Memorial Tournament Bruff 2012

November 7, 2018

The second group game was against Kilrush. Needing to progress to the quarter-final of the Cup, we needed to score 8 tries or more. We ended up winning 9-0. Our quarter-final was against old rivals Presentation. Witnessed by a huge crowd, it was described by neutral supporters and Bruff officials as being one of the best games of this age group. The teams were drawn 1-1 at full time and progressed into a 7-minute sudden-death. The score was still tied at the end of sudden-death. International referee George Clancy, who was surely very impressed by the standard of the game, had to toss a coin to decide the outcome. Young Munster won the toss and progressed to the semi-final where they faced a Garryowen opposition. After such a tough quarter-final match, Young Munster players were out on their feet and unable to progress any further. Jack Cosgrave, Conor Coombs and Ethan O’Sullivan had a great tournament in the forwards. While James Horrigan, Daniel McDonagh and Alex Fitzgerald shinned in the backs. Our outstanding player of the tournament was Jake Connolly for some snipping runs up the middle and some great tries against Kilrush. Our panel on the day was James McKeogh, Adam Lynch, Jack Cosgrave, James Horrigan, Alex Fitzgerald, Dylan Brosnan, Jake Connolly, Sean Mason, Conor Coombs, Peadar Talbot, Daniel McDonagh, Cathal O’Brien, Ethan O’Sullivan, Jordan Nash, Jason O’Reilly and Jeffrey Benson.
