Jason Sherlock has decided to ‘hang up his boots’ at club level after a lengthy and illustrious career.

“I would like to close a very important chapter in my life today by publicly announcing my retirement from Gaelic football,” writes Jason in a statement released via the GPA.

“It isn’t easy for any player to take the ultimate step, particular from club football as well, but it is time for me to move on.

“As a child, my dream was to play for Dublin and to have represented my county for 15 years was a privilege. It also provided me with some of my greatest memories and it was an honour to play alongside and against some wonderful footballers and people during that time,” adds the St Oliver Plunkett’s/ER and former Na Fianna clubman.

“However, making the transition gives me an opportunity to publicly thank all those who have supported me throughout my playing career; family, team-mates, management and supporters. No player can operate at the top level without a team of people helping him; I was fortunate to have great people behind me.

“While bringing closure to a very important part of my life, I look forward to the future opportunities that lie ahead for me and my family.

“Le meas.”
