Junior A's Lose At Home

November 7, 2018

Urhan went down yesterday at home to St. Mary’s.

Urhan raced into a 1-05 to 0-01 lead by the fifteenth minute, with Concubhar Harrington leading the early charge from play and frees and Declan Healy netting an excellent goal. From there, St. mary’s rallied and got a foot-hold in the game, edging the remainder of the half and outscoring Urhan. Half time score Urhan 1-08 St. Mary’s 0-06.

The visitors had the wind in the second half and made it count from the off. They dominated possession, getting on top in a few areas, and pressing forward at every opportunity. They were already well back in the game when a well-worked goal put them into the lead for the first time with ten minutes to go. Urhan levelled with an excellent Kieran Lehane point, fell behind to a Mary’s point, and levelled again with only a few minutes remaining.

It was a fitter and more fluid St. Mary’s who got the crucial breaks from there on, however, and converted two frees and a further effort from play to deservedly win by a goal.

The result leaves Urhan mid-table after two games with a win, a loss, and a zero points difference. Next up is St. Colums away on the 10th April.
