JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

November 7, 2018

Our Junior footballers played their first game of the championship last Monday evening 1st June in Monroe where Ardfinnan were our opponents. Due to injuries and a number of players failing to show up we just about managed to field a team. The first half was slow to get going and scoring chances were limited. We went in at half time 3-2 down. The second half got better for us and we scored the only goal of the game through Mark Mullally which was the difference between the teams in the end as we won 1-8 to 0-8. Team was: Richie Needham, Eamon Needham, Ciarán Mockler, Aaron Cronin, Joey Noonan, Paddy Moroney, Shane Gorey, Aidan Buckley, Paul Horan, Darren Boland, Mark Mullally, Cathal Mahoney, Cameron Moynihan, Robbie McCormack, Conor Cuddihy.

Last Saturday we played Ballingarry in our second game of the Junior Football Championship. Once again we were down a number of players for various reasons. The first half of the game was probably the worst we had played in a number of years. Too many mistakes from us led to easy scores for Ballingarry. As a result we were down at half time by 8 points to 2. The second half was a little bit better from us but ultimately we could not get close enough to Ballingarry and lost by 5 points, 0-11 to 0-6. Team on the night was: Richie Needham, Colm Dunne, Ciarán Mockler, Aaron Cronin, Joey Noonan, Paddy Moroney, Shane Gorey, Paul Horan, Aidan Buckley, Cathal Mahoney, Mark Mullally, Darren Boland, Conor Cuddihy, Willie O Brien, Eamon Needham, Niall Keane, Cameron Moynihan.

Our footballers play Newcastle in their final group game on Saturday 13th June in Clonmel Sportsfield at 7.00.
