Junior B Hurling
We took on Cappawhite in the 2nd group game of the west junior B hurling championship. Having suffered a narrow defeat to Solohead in the opening game a win was needed to keep qualification hopes alive. Cappawhite drew first blood with a well taken free from Eanna Buckley however Joe Carey pounced on a long delivery into the box to smash home a goal. We were dominant in the early stages but struggled to convert the dominance into scores but Sean Kennedy from frees and an excellent Pat Hickey effort from play helped open up a 3 point lead at half time on a score line of 1-05 to 0-05.

The second half was slow to take off but with Damien Nolan now exerting an influence with driving runs through the middle we moved further ahead. Cappawhite had their chances to keep in the game but will rue numerous wides from placed balls in the 3rd quarter. Carey again punished the Cappawhite lack of accuracy with a well taken goal with 10 minutes to go. Treacys rounded off the scoring with points from William Ryan and Sean Kennedy and were victorious on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-07

The team lined out as follows: Seamus Butler, Mark Hogan, Seamus Costello, Greg Kennedy, Simon Maher, Joey Ryan, Ger Egan, Ger O’Toole, John Butler, Sean Kennedy (0-09), Sean Quigley, Pat Hickey (0-01), Damien Nolan (0-01), Joe Carey (2-00), Dylan Fahey. Subs used: William Ryan (0-01), Liam Ryan

AIB Tipperary West Junior A Football Championship Group 2
Golden Kilfeacle 1-13
Sean Treacys 0-03

We were first to score when Kieran Devitt pointed after two minutes however Golden, down from the intermediate grade in 2014, quickly settled into the game with a Seanie O’Halloran equaliser before David Wade went up field and scored the game’s only goal after ten minutes. Golden/K then kicked four unanswered points, from Thomas Byrnes, David Wade, Josh Keane (2) and James Hayes, to ease into a commanding lead. With Golden/K’s defence on top, we found scores hard to come by but Mark Hogan got through for a point after twenty four minutes. Seanie O’Halloran pointed on the stroke of half time to leave the score at the break Golden/Kilfeacle 1-07 Sean Treacys 0-02.

Golden/K continued their dominance after the break and points from Daniel Currivan, Seanie O’Halloran, John Colohan and Stephen Ryan put them twelve points up with fifteen minutes remaining. Treacys never gave up and continued to play attractive football. Golden/K added on two more points from Daithi Bargary and Thomas Byrnes before Mark Hogan had Treacys final score on the stroke of full time.
